Children and young people’s perspectives from UK lockdown: leisure-less experiences

If researchers are to understand the impacts of lockdown on children and young people, then experiences need be explored from perspective child. Young people participate in leisure for a multitude reasons, yet, within UK, were largely unable access their regular activities six-month period during first national lockdown. Within context this paper, includes outdoor sports physical blue spaces. Following interviews with parents (aged 11–16) focused Covid-19 pandemic, qualitative study identified that felt an intense sense missing out opportunities found day-to-day life without monotonous. However, there some positive reduced leisure, such as greater appreciation what was once activity. This research empowered voice children, so distinct made visible those who aim support wellbeing. Findings suggest promotion current climate could mitigate poor wellbeing among associated pandemic.
